Vacuum and retort: different processes, different questions.

Identify the application information needed before discussing packaging structures.

01

Start with the process actually used

Explain whether the product will be vacuum packed, thermally processed, or handled another way. A pouch name alone cannot establish process suitability. Involve the people responsible for the product process when defining packaging needs.

02

Vacuum concerns the packing conditions

For vacuum applications, bring the contents, product shape or edges, target weight, and the equipment and sealing method. Discuss filling, closing, handling, and distribution. Do not infer shelf life simply because a pouch can be vacuum packed.

03

Retort requires application-specific construction

Retort packaging requires review of thermal-processing conditions, material integrity, and seals. Its selection and validation belong to the product and process system. This guide does not set processing parameters or establish that one structure suits every product.

04

Prepare questions before requesting a quote

Use the first discussion to align information rather than guess technical settings. Bring the product description, process flow, distribution needs, performance targets, and any drawing. Savora can review packaging requirements against that information.

  • Which process conditions must the pack withstand?
  • How will seals and samples be evaluated?
  • Who validates the final product and process?
