Review the details while they are easy to change.

Separate artwork, colour, construction, and usage checks before approval.

01

Know what you are approving

A proof or sample can represent different things. Ask whether it demonstrates artwork layout, a colour direction, material, construction, or a particular process result. Record its scope so approval is not interpreted more broadly than intended.

02

Review artwork in a consistent order

Start with the brand and product names, then variants, numbers, spelling, codes, and other brand-owned information. Check positioning against seals, folds, and features. Review front and back orientation so the sides are not confused.

  • Use the same checklist for every SKU.
  • Check barcodes on a result relevant to the print plan.
  • Mark changes with a revision number.

03

Separate appearance from usage

An attractive pack still needs review against its contents and use. Where samples are available, discuss filling, opening, closing, standing, and handling. Agree the sample type and evaluation needed for the application; not every sample represents the same scope.

04

Keep approval with the final version

Record the approved artwork, drawing, specifications, and revisions together. Assign one person to consolidate the brand’s internal feedback. When something changes, confirm what must be reviewed again before the order proceeds.
